Project Description

POISE & BALANCE

WHAT IS CLINICAL PILATES?

Clinical Pilates is an evidence-based method of exercise and rehabilitation.

Clinical Pilates stands alone from fitness or generic Pilates because each program is tailored to the participant.

Physiotherapists trained in Clinical Pilates can evaluate your history, assess your movement to design a program to not only promote recovery from an injury but to identify and correct the underlying cause.

Clinical Pilates utilises equipment such as the Reformer to carry out specific exercise programs that will strengthen critical areas of the body that injury or lifestyle has interfered.

Strength and flexibility are the product of efficient movement. Individualised programs using the Clinical Pilates methods will help you achieve this.

It is essential that a Clinical Pilates trained physiotherapist closely supervises participants to ensure you get the most out of your Clinical Pilates program.

We restrict the size of our classes which enable us to help you master the technique and get the most out of each exercise.

PHYSIO EXERCISE PROGRAMS

Clinical Pilates has greatly expanded in popularity in the Bayside area, and Sandringham Sports Physio creates programs specific to patient needs, ensuring that you can rehabilitate as quickly as possible. In order to ensure you get the most out of our Physio Exercise Program, it’s essential that patients are closely supervised by a certified Clinical Pilates Physiotherapist. By doing so, we can make sure you master the techniques and get the most out of every exercise.

These classes are suitable for all levels of experience and adaptable for all conditions and across all age groups. However, an entry-level standard is required to ensure you are appropriate for our group exercise environment.

GET BACK TO BEING ACTIVE

As you progress through the sessions, movements which once seemed awkward and clumsy are performed with coordination and ease. During this time, we can transition to less and less supervised sessions until you feel confident and ready to perform clinical Pilates on your own. Eventually, you’ll be able to do your Pilates routines from the comfort of your own home. With regular adjustments and upgrades, we can help you maintain progress and reap the long-term benefits of this unique form of exercise.

Physio Exercise Class is covered by Workcover, TAC, and private health insurance, and HICAPS facilities are available.

Sandringham Sports Physio offers supervised and effective clinical exercise programs for patients across Sandringham and the Bayside area, including Highett, Cheltenham, Bentleigh, Brighton and Hampton.

GOOD TO KNOW

Firstly, it is necessary that you attend an initial consultation with one of our physiotherapists. The physiotherapist will take your history, complete an objective examination and test the activation of your stabilising muscles. From the information gathered at this consultation the physiotherapist can select the most appropriate Pilates exercises and stabilising muscle recruitment cues for you. An entry level standard must be achieved prior to class attendance. Once this is achieved, we will provide you complimentary online membership. This allows you to purchase Pilates packs and book classes online.
Entry level standard is discovered during the initial consultation with your physiotherapist. It is your ability to perform particular exercises while maintaining the correct posture and activating your deep abdominal stabilising muscles. This must be achieved with a standard level of instruction and supervision. If entry level standard is not achieved, your physiotherapist will recommend that you attend one to one sessions. This will give you the opportunity to progress to the classes.
The classes at Sandringham Sports Physio are instructed by one of our physiotherapists, certified in the method of teaching Clinical Pilates. Classes run for 45 mins and are small in number, this allows for plenty of one-on-one time with the physiotherapist who ensures exercises are specific to your needs.
